If you have a favorite T-shirt and are quite particular about it maintenance, you can dip it in cold water with a mild detergent and wash it by hand. Even though many custom made t-shirts are nowadays specifically designed for washer wash, a little bit of caution has never been a bad thing. This way, you can be sure that printed material on your t-shirt doesn’t fade, peel or flake. It is also generally a good practice to turn the t-shirts inside out while throwing them into the washing machine. This will prevent the printed fabric portion from coming in direct contact with the agitator that is fixed at the center of the machine.

Avoid Dryers

It is better to avoid dryers since the high temperatures are known to damage t-shirts in the long run. The material becomes prone to shrinking and even the printed image begins to peel or crack. Hence try and avoid the use of dryers when it comes to your favorite t-shirts.

Quality Detergent

Using a good grade detergent is very important towards maintaining the quality of the fabric. The best quality detergents are usually gentle on the clothes and are also highly effective at removing the toughest of stains. Do not shy away from shelling a few dollars on buying a good quality detergent. If you are using t-shirts of darker shades, it might also be a good idea to use laundry soap to remove any stubborn stains. It is however advisable to avoid chemicals like bleach, which will surely spoil the look of the fabric in the long run.

Lingerie Bag

Lingerie bags are used by a lot of people to keep the undergarments separate while washing them with other clothes in the washing machine. You can put your t-shirts in these bags and ensure that they do not fade or undergo any kind of damage even while they are being used in a commercial washer.
